Plug valves are considered as one of the oldest types of valves. This valve belongs to the quarter-turn valve family which comes with cylindrical rotator which can be rotated inside the body of the valve to control the flow of fluid. They are also known as cock or stop cock valve. Types of plug valves Lubricated plug valve- These valves are useful in high-pressure services. Being lubricated, they are more resistive to corrosion and last longer. Non-lubricated plug valve- As the name suggests, these valves do not employ lubrication for protection against corrosion. You will find jacketed sleeved plug valve designs for primary sealing. Application of plug valves Plug valves are generally installed in areas where there is need of multi-directional flow. They are commonly found in corrosive liquid and steam applications. They can safely handle gas and liquid fuel. These valves can be used to regulate the flow of semi-solids like slurries. Plug valves are best fo...
